Tour Overview
The main feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic Caldera.
The crater, which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago, it is 610 meters (2,000 feet) deep and its floor, covers 260 square kilometers (100 square miles).
Estimates of the height of the original volcano range from 4,500 to 5,800 meters (14,800 to 19,000 feet) high.
The elevation of the crater floor is 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level. The Crater was voted by Seven Natural Wonders as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in Arusha, Tanzania in February 2013.
After breakfast at your place, you will be pick up at 06h30 with picnic lunch, this morning you will drive southwest through Masai steppe land and proceed to the western through the Great Rift Valley and coffee and wheat farm to Ngorongoro Conservation area.
Where you will spend the rest of l day exploring Ngorongoro crater which is a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals. Giving you a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo, plus countless other African mammal species.
You will witness the magnificent array of habitats, each with its own unique wildlife and flora. You will take time out to stretch your legs and enjoy your picnic lunch at Ngoitokitok Springs watching the hippos jostle for position in the water. After lunch you will proceed with game viewing leaving the crater floor in the late afternoon and drive back to Arusha for drop off in good time before dark
